It will be the large table near the front window. Newsletter and New Running Group Our tireless president Rhonda McNish has been busy again. She has put together a nicely colored and formatted Spring President's Message PrezMsg. This message is in effect a newsletter with lots of information on club events and happenings, Rhonda has also initiated a special running group geared towards those new to road running or are re-entering the scene after an absence. All three runners, ian, mike and Stewart ran times well under the qualifying age category standards for the 2019 Boston Marathon. You get to do it all again! Ian is Boston bound good luck to ian loughrey as he takes on his first Boston Marathon on Monday, april 16, patriots' day. Ian met the qualifying standard for this prestigious event and has been training hard ever since. He is sure to do well and we will be tracking and his progress as he makes his way from the start line at Hopkinton, over heartbreak hill and on to the finish line on boylston Street in Boston. Go for it, buddy! Travelling with Ian will be mike crawford for an impressive 12th Boston.
Brockville community Cleanup, saturday april 21, 10:30am to 12:00 Executive member Ed Eby is coordinating the club's participation in this annual community event. Christie reitsma: queen of the Frozen Runs As reported, Christie reitsma was the overall female winner of the 2018 Freeze your Buns series just completed. Our club archivist, rick Swift, searched the archives and found: This was Christie's fourth such victory. Twenty one years separated her first and fourth win. She captured the title in 1997, 2004, 2005 and, of course, this year.
Community runs, the executive has decided to draw attention to a category of runs which are local, non-club events. These will be highlighted here on the website under a separate category, community runs. The intent is to draw your attention to these events and encourage your support. An additional button will eventually be added to our Other Runs dropdown menu, but in the interim, here are the details of a couple of upcoming such community events: Community Cleanup April 21, 2018, the brrc took part in this significant event. A crew of club members, organized by Ed Eby, cleaned up two separate sections of the Brock Trail, The trail of course forms a significant portion of our runs, particularly the saturday morning jaunts.
Donation to the food Bank recently president Rhonda McNish and executive member Ian loughrey presented a cheque for 600 to the local food Bank. The cheque represented the net proceeds from the 2018 three freeze your Buns runs. Boston Conquered It was cold and it was wet and it was windy, but our hardy canadian lads doggedly stuck to the task and finished in style. First timer Ian loughrey finished in 3:41:54 while the veteran mike crawford completed his twelfth Boston in 3:16:54. Congrats to you two warriors and recover well. Also hats off to Stewart Campbell from Pembroke, a regular at our fybs and other races, for his 3:46:28 finish.

Heartiest congratulations to paula wiltse on her very well-deserved nomination for induction into the Brockville and Area sports Hall of Fame. Paula has been an elite class runner for many years and has been recognized nationally and internationally for her running success over many distances for from 5K to the marathon. Paula is also an accomplished coach and many of our members have benefitted from her expertise in this area. Paula joins others of our running community in the hall of Fame (hof bob Tucker, ron Hungerford, kevin beatty, tony dunbar and Marianne carlyle. The hof gala dinner takes place on Thursday, june 14 at the memorial Centre with the official induction ceremony to follow on Friday, june 15, again at the memorial Centre.

The event itself goes back even further where there was also a 10km run. Congrats to race director Murray tait and crew for organizing another enjoyable and festive kickoff to Brockville's Canada day celebrations.
